DAY 1
Our vacation starts with a pleasant flight to the capital of Italy - Rome. On arrival, transfer to the hotel for a good rest. (Meals On Board)
DAY 2
After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Rome city with a visit to St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City (Note: Entrance is subject to opening days/times), the administrative and spiritual capital of Roman Catholicism. See the famous ‘Pietà’ by Michelangelo and works of art by many other Italian artists. Later, proceed to the Colosseum, one of the most magnificent monuments of ancient Rome. Built in 72 AD, it once used to seat 50,000 spectators and was the chief circus of the Roman Empire, where gladiatorial battles and other cruel glories were held. Our next stop will be the Trevi Fountain, one of the main filming sites of ‘Triumph in the Skies’. Make a wish by tossing a coin into the fountain. (Breakfast/Lunch)
DAY 3
This morning, a leisurely drive towards Tuscany Region, passing olive orchards and the Chianti region where famous Italian wines are produced to the staggering riches of Florence. First, make a photo stop at Ponte Vecchio, a historic bridge for a superb view of River Arno. Continue with our walking tour to see the sculptures alongside the walls of Uffizi Gallery, and proceed to Piazza della Signoria - the lordship square, unveiling many sculptures by famous Italian sculptors including a copy of Michelangelo’s ‘David’ statue. At the old town, visit the 3rd largest cathedral in the Catholic world, the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral. Another sightseeing stop not to be missed is the Door of Paradise at the Baptistery of St. Giovanni, where Ghiberti took 27 years to complete. (Breakfast/Florentine Steak Dinner)
DAY 4
After breakfast, proceed to the historic university city of Pisa, famous for its architectural beauty. We embark on a guided tour to Piazza dei Miracoli to find the celebrated Leaning Tower, the Duomo - an unequalled masterpiece of Romanesque art, and the Baptistery. Travel through the fertile, picturesque Tuscan countryside and visit a factory outlet for some shopping. Move on to one of the most romantic cities in Italy - Venice, a fabulous city of canals, gondolas and beautiful places erected on an archipelago of islands. (Breakfast/Italian Dinner)
DAY 5
This morning, board a water taxi to Venice Island and commence on our sightseeing tour - visit St Mark’s Square, which is bordered by the Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basilica, the Campanile (bell tower) and other governmental buildings. A photo stop will be made at the celebrated Bridge of Sighs. Next, visit a fi ne glass-blowing factory where you will be able to see richly coloured Venetian glass made to world class standard. You may wish to hop onto a gondola to tour the canals (at your own expense). After which, transfer to the fashion centre of Italy - Milan. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 6
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely drive across the Swiss border to Interlaken, a Bernese Oberland resort beautifully situated between two sparkling lakes and beneath the towering Jungfrau. Marvel at the scenic splendours and glories of nature surrounding the town. (Breakfast/Swiss Fondue Dinner)
DAY 7
Today, you are free at leisure to enjoy this spectacular holiday resort situated in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Simply relax and enjoy a scenic feast of snow-capped peaks, or you may like to take an optional tour to Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe by a spectacular train ride! (Breakfast)
DAY 8
This morning, we drive to the beautiful town of Engelberg for a series of cable cars to Mount Titlis, an unique glacier paradise and enjoy panoramic views at 10,000 feet above sea level (Note: If Mt Titlis is closed for maintenance, it will be replaced with another mountain excursion). Continue to the gateway to central Switzerland - Lucerne, where we will see the Lion Monument that is carved from a limestone cliff to commemorate the bravery of the Swiss Guards during the French Revolution. Visit the rebuilt 14th century covered wooden Chapel Bridge. Then you are at leisure to shop for fine Swiss products like chocolate, music boxes, Swiss knives, and Rolex watches or stroll through the streets of fine 15th and 16th century houses. You may like to visit Bucherer, Europe’s number one shop for watches and jewellery, and collect a free souvenir. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 9
Bid farewell to mesmerizing Switzerland as we arrive in the capital of France - Paris. In the evening, you may like to join an optional tour to the world renowned ‘Moulin Rouge’, a typical French Can-Can Revue with all its fun, colour and excitement! (Breakfast)
DAY 10
Today, tour the city of Paris, starting from the glorious Arc de Triomphe erected by Napoleon in 1806 as a memorial to his victorious battles. Since 1919, it has become a National Monument to the Unknown Soldiers of France. Situated on a small hill with 12 avenues radiating like rays of lights from a star, the area was aptly named Place de l’Étoile. Drive down the Champs-Élysées which was laid in the 17th century before arriving at Place de la Concorde, one of the largest squares in France. Ascend to the 2nd level of Eiffel Tower, which has become an enduring symbol of the city of Paris. Continue with our tour as we drive past the Notre Dame Cathedral and Louvre Museum’s famous glass pyramids. Later, go shopping at Galeries Lafayette where you can find many luxury brands under one roof. This evening, you may enjoy an optional cruise on the romantic River Seine. (Breakfast/Lunch)
DAY 11
Bid ‘Au Revoir’ to Paris as we proceed to Brussels, the lively and bustling capital of Belgium. Our sightseeing tour of Brussels begins with the site of the 1958 World Fair to view the Atomium. Take a picture with the cheeky Manneken Pis for remembrance before proceeding to the Grand Place, one of the most beautiful and impressive squares in Europe. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 12
Move on to The Netherlands, passing enroute characteristic dykes, canals and windmills of the picturesque Dutch countryside. Visit the Floriade in Venlo, held every 10 years (open 5 Apr to 7 Oct 2012). After dinner, take a stroll through Amsterdam’s well-known red light district situated near Dam Square. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 13
This morning, our tour of Amsterdam starts with a drive to Dam Square and the Royal Palace. Then board a glass domed boat cruise through the canals as you glide gently past some of the city’s 800 bridges, quaint historic buildings and barges moored along the sides. Next, visit the diamond-cutting factory before we proceed to learn about cheese and clogs making. Snap a great shot with the unique traditional windmills as the backdrop! (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 14
Bid farewell to The Netherlands with our departure transfer to the airport for our flight back to Singapore. We hope that you have had an enjoyable time with SA Tours! (Breakfast/Meals On Board)
