DAY 1
Our vacation starts with a pleasant flight to the music capital of the world - Vienna.
DAY 2
Upon arrival, embark on our orientation tour. Visit the Hapsburg’s magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. Our tour of the State Apartments unveils part of the 1400 different rooms such as the Million, Chinese and the Music Room where young Mozart conducted his first public performance. View the great St Stephen Church, drive along the famed Ringstrasse revealing the majestic Parliament House, the Winter Palace and the gothic Town Hall. After which, continue to Bratislava, the city of Slovakia.
DAY 3
This morning, enjoy a quick tour of Bratislava. It is the largest city of Slovakia and re-emerging as the centre of history, politics, culture, business and recreation. Cross the Hungarian border and drive along the route known as the ‘Danube Bend’ with its quaint old villages. At your own leisure, you may want to take a cruise on the Danube, the ‘Paris of the East’.
DAY 4
Our Budapest sightseeing features Buda Castle, which dominates the twin cities of Buda and Pest, separated by the broad ribbon of the Danube. Marvel at the superb murals in the 13th Century St Matthias Church. From the Gothic lookout tower of Fisherman’s Bastion to enjoy the view of the Parliament Building and sprawling Pest. You will be thrilled at the panoramic view across the Danube from the lofty Citadel atop the Gellert Hill. The rest of the day is free at leisure for you to explore this beautiful city. This evening, enjoy a local Hungarian dinner accompanied by gypsy music.
DAY 5
Travel along the foothills of the Tatra Mountains. Drive through beautiful scenery, passing the picturesque Oravsky Hrad Castle enroute. In the evening, Arrive in Poland’s capital of culture, Krakow.
DAY 6
Our city tour of Krakow takes us through the Old Town to visit the medieval Cloth Hall and the 14th century Mariacki (St Mary) Church. Then, we ascend Wawel Hill, view the castle with its interesting legendary dragon and see the Cathedral where it is the burial place of Polish heroes through many centuries. We will make a final stop at the splendid arcaded courtyard of Jagiellonian University. If time permits, you may want to join an optional tour to visit the astonishing Wieliczka salt mine with its deep tunnels and salt sculptures.
DAY 7
After breakfast, proceed to Oswiecim, a medium-sized industrial town 60 km west of Krakow. Step back into recent history when we visit Auschwitz Concentration Camp, where events were so chillingly evoked in ‘Schindler’s List’, served to remind us of the Holocaust. In the evening, arrive in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic with its wealth of gothic and baroque architecture.
DAY 8
Spanning the River Vlatva, Prague ranks as one of the most beautiful preserved cities in Europe. Visit the 1000 year-old Hradcany Castle, former residence of Bohemain Kings and within its walls, the enormous St Vitus Cathedral with its gilded grand chapel studded with semi-precious stones. Make a photo stop at the spectacular Old Town Hall with its fabulous Astronomical Clock, once the envy of all Europe. Afterwards, mix with the locals in Wenceslas Square, birthplace of modern Czech.
DAY 9
Continue our journey with a leisure stop in the centre of Germany - Dresden, the former capital of Saxony, also known as “Florence of the Elbe”. Badly damaged by the allied bombing in February 1945, the city has since been restored to its baroque splendid. The artistic and architecture heritage of the Zwinger Palace and the Semper Opera House, where Wagner’s “Flying Dutchman” first performed, is a highlight for many visitors. Thereafter, make photo stops at the Frauenkirche and the Saxon Wall, made of thousands of Meissen tiles. Continue on to the capital of Germany and hosting country of World Cup 2006, Berlin.
DAY 10
Begin our tour in this once divided German capital at the elegant Ku'damm with the bomb damaged tower of Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Thereafter, visit the Berlin Wall and take photos at the Charlie Checkpoint. Continue to the Reichstag - once burnt by the Nazi and now Germany’s Parliament, the monumental Brandenburg Gate, Charlottenburg Palace and the 210-feet high Victory Column in the vast Tiergarten Park. Drive along Unter den Linden Boulevard, passing the German State Opera House. The afternoon is free at leisure for you to explore this city. You may consider to join an optional excursion to the historic Potsdam Palace at your own expense.
DAY 11
Bid farewell to Germany with our departure transfer to the airport for our flight back to Singapore. We hope that you have had an enjoyable time with SA Tours. (Breakfast / Meals on Board)
