DAY 1
Our vacation starts with a pleasant flight to the Bavarian capital of Germany - Munich. (Meals On Board)
DAY 2
Upon arrival, our sightseeing tour of Munich begins with a drive along the Ludwigstrasse to Victory Arch, ending in the heart of the city at Marienplatz to see the soaring Town Hall with its unique, musical Glockenspiel clock and the Hofbräuhaus. Next, proceed to the beautiful baroque city of Salzburg. Commence on our guided walking tour - visit the Mirabell Gardens where Maria and the Trapp children ran down the hedge arcade in ‘The Sound of Music’, then continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town with an ensemble of medieval and baroque buildings, the Domplatz to see the city’s majestic Cathedral as well as the great composer Mozart’s birthplace. DAY 3
Today, enjoy a scenic drive past Lake Mondsee and along the Danube Valley to Austria’s imperial and music capital - Vienna. Visit the Hapsburg’s magnifi cent Schönbrunn Palace and our tour of the State Apartments unveils part of the 1400 different rooms such as the Million, Chinese and the Music Room where young Mozart conducted his first public performance. View the great St Stephen’s Cathedral, drive along the famed Ringstrasse, past the Parliament, Winter Palace and State Opera House. (Breakfast/Viennese Snitzel Lunch/Dinner)
DAY 4
This morning, we trace the Danube Valley and cross the Hungarian border to Budapest, straddling the wide River Danube. This afternoon, our Budapest’s sightseeing features Buda Castle, which dominates the twin cities of Buda and Pest, separated by the broad ribbon of the Danube. Marvel at the fascinating murals in the 13th century St Matthias Church. From the gothic lookout tower of Fisherman’s Bastion, enjoy views of the immense Parliament building and sprawling Pest. Then take in the panorama across the Danube from the lofty Citadel atop Gellért Hill. Later, cross the Danube to Pest and visit the Heroes’ Square. This evening, enjoy a Hungarian dinner with folklore show. Thereafter, you may consider to take an optional cruise on the Danube - ‘Paris of the East’. (Breakfast/Lunch/Hungarian Dinner)
DAY 5
Enjoy our drive into Slovakia through the foothills of the breathtaking Tatra Mountains, before we cross into Poland and on to its capital of culture - Kraków. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 6
Our city tour of Kraków takes us through the Old Town to visit the medieval Cloth Hall and the 14th century St Mary’s or Mariacki Church. Then we ascend to Wawel Hill, to view the castle with its interesting legendary dragon and the cathedral, which is the burial place of Polish heroes through many centuries. We will make a fi nal stop at the splendid arcaded courtyard of Jagiellonian university. If time permits, you may want to join an optional tour to the astonishing Wieliczka Salt Mine with its underground tunnels and salt sculptures. (Breakfast/Polish Lunch/Dinner)
DAY 7
After breakfast, proceed to Oświęcim, a medium-sized industrial town 60 km west of Kraków. Step back into recent history as we visit Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp, where events so chillingly evoked in the movie ‘Schindler’s List’, served to remind us of the Holocaust. In the evening, arrive in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic with its wealth of gothic and baroque architecture. (Breakfast/Czech Dinner)
DAY 8
Spanning the River Vlatva, Prague ranks as one of the most beautifully preserved cities in Europe. Visit the 1000-year-old Hradcany Castle, former residence of Bohemian Kings and within its walls, the enormous St Vitus Cathedral with its gilded grand chapel studded with semi-precious stones. Make a photo stop at the spectacular Old Town Square with its fabulous Astronomical Clock, once the envy of all Europe. Afterwards, mix with the locals at Wenceslas Square, birthplace of modern Czech. (Breakfast/Lunch)
DAY 9
Today, travel back to Germany to Dresden, the former capital of Saxony, also known as ‘Florence on the Elbe’. Badly damaged by the allied bombing in February 1945, the city has since been restored to its former baroque grandeur. The artistic and architectural heritage of the Zwinger Palace and the Semper Opera House, where Wagner’s ‘Flying Dutchman’ first performed, is a highlight for many visitors. After which, make photo stops at the Frauenkirche and the Saxon Wall, made of thousands of Meissen tiles. Move on to the capital of Germany and host city of World Cup Final 2006 - Berlin. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 10
Start our tour in this once divided German capital - see the elegant Ku’damm with the bomb damaged tower of Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Thereafter, visit the Berlin Wall and take a picture at Checkpoint Charlie. Continue to the Reichstag which was once burnt by the Nazi and now Germany’s Parliament. Drive past the monumental Brandenburg Gate, Charlottenburg Palace and the 210-feet high Victory Column in the vast Tiergarten. Next, drive along Unter den Linden boulevard, passing the restored State Opera House. This afternoon, you are free at leisure for shopping or you may like to join an optional excursion to the former centre of Prussia and UNESCO World Heritage Site - Potsdam Palace. (Breakfast/Lunch)
DAY 11
Elbe and through the former East Germany. Past the city of Leipzig into western Germany. If time permits, we may visit Nuremberg, still enclosed by medieval walls to see the charming blend of stone and timbered houses and the massive town ramparts. Enroute, stop at the Ingolstadt Village for some outlet shopping. This evening, return to the lively capital of Bavaria - Munich. (Breakfast/Dinner)
DAY 12
Today, you are free at leisure to join an optional tour to the mad King Ludwig’s fairytale Neuchwanstein Castle, or you may do some last minute shopping in town. (Breakfast/Pork Knuckle Dinner)
DAY 13
Bid farewell to Germany with our departure transfer to the airport for our flight back to Singapore. We hope that you have had an enjoyable time with SA Tours! (Breakfast/Meals On Board)
